Science Fiction

The following is a list of some science fiction books or series I would recomend !

The Foundation Triology

This series describes the struggles of humanity to survive the fall of the dying Galactic Empire that has endured for thousands of years. A man named Hari Seldon discovers a mathematical method of predicting the future. He formulates a plan to shorten the period between the first Galactic Empire and the second Galactic Empire down to 1000 years. His plan calls for two settlements, the foundations, to be founded. This is a great 7 book series. It is written by Isaac Asimov and is connected, strangely enough, to his robot series.

Jurassic Park and The Lost World

Probably everyone has seen the movie or at least read the book. In my mind Jurassic Park is an exceptionally good book. It recounts the tale of a genetically engineered theme park that has escaped the control of it's makers. "The Lost World", the only thing I'm going to tell is what is written on the back of the book: SOMETHING HAS SURVIVED !!! Written by Michael Crichton.

Caliban

This is the story of a rogue robot created without the customary laws of robotic behavior encoded in his brain. Caliban must escape destruction and persuade the citizens of the world that he is not a menace to society. (note: I use he because the english language pronoun for robots, "it", is very akward in this case) Written by Isaac Asimov and Roger MacBride Allen.

2001: a space odyssey

This is the book form of the movie 2001. It recounts the tale of a mission to Saturn to determine why TMA-1 sent a signal to the saturnian system. However, don't miss the rest of the series, 2010 odyssey 2 and 2061 odyssey 3 are also excellent books they continue to recount the tale of David Bowman and HAL. I've just heard that Arthur C. Clarke is hard at work 3001 the final odyssey ! Enjoy !
